The current third-generation Nissan Note (2020+) features Nissan's e-Power system — a unique hybrid technology where the petrol engine acts as a generator and the wheels are driven entirely by an electric motor. This gives it an EV-like driving feel without the need to plug in. Earlier Note models (up to 2019) were conventional petrol automatics.
Nissan e-Power is a series hybrid system. The 1.2-litre petrol engine generates electricity but never directly drives the wheels — all drive comes from the electric motor. This delivers instant torque, one-pedal driving and very smooth acceleration, similar to a full electric car but without range anxiety.
The Nissan Note e-Power delivers around 25–32 km/litre in real-world Cyprus driving — among the best of any car in its class. City driving produces the best results, as the regenerative braking recovers energy at every deceleration.
Yes. The e-Power system uses a single-speed automatic — there is no traditional gearbox. The driving experience is similar to an EV: smooth, quiet and linear from standstill. There is no clutch, no gear changes and no engine noise at low speed.
